Hello, I'm April (the founder of Kook), it's nice to meet you!

I live and breathe events, love being creative and solving problems, and have so much fun getting to know our amazing clients! It's my personal mission to make your wedding or party an epic, fun celebration that you and your guests will LOVE.

The best thing about my job is seeing people doing things in their own way, creating an event which celebrates their personality and unique style. It really is all about YOU, it's your day and it can be whatever you want it to be! I find it so exciting how people are moving away from cookie-cutter white weddings or black tie-parties, and doing something which actually fits their own style and interests.

A bit about me? I've worked in the events industry for over 8 years, planning both private and business events. I also spent over two years as a visual merchandiser/stylist in the fashion industry, working with brands such as Paul Smith, Coggles and Topshop. When i'm not coordinating my clients' incredible celebrations I can usually be found doing any of the following activities:

  • Chilling in a coffee shop - probably with a flat white and some form of sweet treat!

  • Stroking cats (or dogs, I love both)!

  • Lusting over mid century furniture, Scandi homewares and unusual vintage finds on the internet.

  • Going to gigs - Angel Olsen and Nick Cave are in the diary for 2021!

  • Curling up on the sofa listening to a record and reading a magazine or scrolling through Instagram.

  • Indulging in a spot of retail therapy (current favourites include Space NK, Lazy Oaf, Monki and Habitat).

  • Getting out and about exploring new cities with my other half, Jon (next stop, Tokyo)!

Oh, and I'm an old romantic and a total sucker for a good love story... so get in touch and tell me yours!

We aren't currently looking for any full-time or part-time team members - keep your eyes peeled on this page or Facebook or Instagram accounts for any updates!

Please note, if you wish to apply speculatively, we only seek applications from freelance event planners who have had at least 3 years hands-on events industry experience in a similar environment. We get an incredibly high volume of speculative applications, and with this we regret we are unable to respond to them all individually.

Unfortunately we don't offer internships, work experience or placements for university students.

For aspiring wedding planners, we highly recommend looking at the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners' courses. The UKAWP may also be able to put you in touch with other planners who are actively seeking assistance on a work-experience basis.
